NAVPLG Board of Directors Meeting
Tuesday, November 10

Engage is now live!

e-Volunteerism officially became Engage, the global voice of leaders of volunteer engagement.  With the passing of Susan Ellis and the 20 year anniversary of e-Volunteerism, Rob Jackson (Editor-in-Chief) along with other subject matter experts have worked diligently preparing the new look of this online journal.  Check out Engage and its sections:  Ahead of the Curve, Ethics, Feature Articles, Points of View, Research to Practice, Voices, Engage Library, and much more.   https://engagejournal.org/e-volunteerism-now-engage

From Our NAVPLG President

Kandy LeMoine, CVA

What Inspires You to Serve?
Current NAVPLG Board of Directors share what inspires them to serve and what they enjoy most about service.

Past President: Yolanda R. Prince, City of Tyler, TX
  • It was actually other members who asked me after I won the inaugural Award of Merit. They spoke to me about the duties and how this would be a good fit for my trajectory. And it turned out to be a wonderful and rewarding experience.
  • I love how we all relate to each other even though we are in different parts of the country. No matter what is going on we can call one another up and receive sound and professional advice.
Treasurer/Finance Chair: Tibby Larson, Parks & Recreation Volunteer Coordinator, City of Salem, OR
  • In 2006 I won the NAVPLG Excellence in Volunteer Management Award. I was able to attend the NAVPLG annual meeting to receive my award. After I attended that meeting, I was inspired to serve on the Board of Directors.
  • I enjoy service in my work, on the board, and in general because it expands my heart and my mind. I find energy in serving.
President: Kandy LeMoine, CVA, Mayor’s Volunteer Partners (MVP) Program Manager, City of Farmington, NM
  • I was inspired to serve by NAVPLG President, Yolanda R. Prince. She sent me an email invitation to serve on the Board of Directors. I served as Secretary in 2017 and was able to attend the 2018 NAVPLG annual meeting and session at the Points of Light Conference in Atlanta, GA, where I was elected President. Serving with NAVPLG enhanced my career and helped me magnify the social return on volunteer engagement within our MVP organization.
  • What I love most about service is rewarding volunteers for their contributions to improving our community. Working with volunteers continually renews my spirit with positive energy.

Self-Care During COVID

Self-care is important at all times, but even more so during this global pandemic.  As we approach the winter months, how are you going to take care of you?  What tips do you have to share?  How are you staying in contact with your volunteers?  Check out this link from the CDC about managing stress: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/managing-stress-anxiety.html
