Salt Lake County’s Meals on Wheels (MOW) and Rides for Wellness Senior Transportation Program (RFW) recently combined into one program with a new name: “The Independent Aging Program”.  This encompasses the changing needs of our older adult clients who want to continue living independently.  Our program not only improves their lives, it also increases efficiency within the program.

Summer is almost over and it was only last month that we had our Annual Meeting at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service Conference in Atlanta. It was great to see and meet many of you. When I was younger, my dad would say to me, “time waits for no one”.  Now I find myself repeating his statement to my teenage son.  I usually follow-up with, “just do your best and get back into the game”.
 

The 2014 NAVPLG Award Winners were presented at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Atlanta, Georgia on June 16.  The NAVPLG Award Program is an excellent way for our organization to recognize professional excellence and to honor our peers for outstanding work.  As volunteer managers, we are often shining the light on others without bringing attention to the good work we do. Congratulations to our 2014 award recipients.
