President’s Message - The Speed of Trust for Volunteer Managers

Leigh Britt, CVA

3. Capabilities – It is important to us all to stay relevant to our organizations and our profession. This may be a reason you are a NAVPLG member.  As professional volunteer administrators, we need to stay on top of the current trends in volunteering and use our skills to serve our citizens and staff.

4. Results – What do we accomplish?  We have to be more than really nice people who have good intentions – our volunteer programs must have an outcome that is meaningful to the volunteers and the communities we serve.  Without valuable tasks, volunteers won’t continue.  It is our job to keep asking staff and volunteers  to ensure our program has results that are measurable and impactful.

Trust is much more than integrity – building it also takes into account many other parts of who we are. We can continue to build trust for our programs by remembering Covey’s four cores of credibility.
