NAVPLG at the National Association of Counties Annual Conference in Pittsburg

Well attended by conference attendees the work session focused on how communities can implement, manage and sustain volunteer programs in local government.  Nardecchia spoke of the City of Dublin's involvement as one of the charter Cities of Service and the dynamic role that the volunteer administrator plays in working with elected officials and community members to craft innovative and engaging service opportunities.  Castano highligted the work of Volunteer Arlington, spoke of the importance of the field and profession of volunteer management, and encouraged conference attendees to learn more about NAVPLG and the many resources within the Volunteer Toolbox.

Lastly, Commissioner Desloge provided an elected official's perspective and spoke about how active and engaged volunteers make a good community, a GREAT community highlighting the work of Volunteer Leon and their important work engaging volunteers in disaster preparedness and recovery.  NACo highlighted the educational session as "an excellent workshop for learning timely and relevant information about issues important to county government"  in their Annual Conference After Action Report in County News -- The Voice of America's Counties.
