President's Message: National Volunteer Week

It's official and winter is finally here! Brrrr... I know everyone has been braving the cold and freezing temperatures around the country. That's why I can't wait to talk to you about spring already. I can't wait for spring to get here!

While we are dealing with the inclement weather, floodings, ice storms - volunteer management professionals have to think creatively about how to recruit, train, sustain and motivate their amazing and dedicated volunteers to help support our government run programs, services and operations. This is what we do every day and do it with such grace.

National Volunteer Week is scheduled this year from April 12 through April 18, 2015. It is a great opportunity for us in government to thank our thousands of volunteers for their time, talents and contributions. NAVPLG would like to know what you have planned to celebrate your volunteers. Please share your stories, celebrations, festivities and acknowledgements with us - your fellow members. NAVPLG is an excellent resource so why not share that with each other. Submit your ideas, stories or links to president@navplg.org by Monday, March 3, 2015 so we can post them on our website in time for National Volunteer Week.
