CVA and NAVPLG enter into a new MOU!

In order to promote oportunities for professional development of volunteer administrators in governmental settings, NAVPLG has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). CCVA focuses on advancing excellence in volunteer administration by delivering professional certication and advocating ethical practice. NAVPLG members are now eligible for a discount if they choose to certifiy.

Why Certify? Professional certification signals a commitment to excellence. It confirms that individuals have the knowledge needed to competently attract, onboard, and support volunteers. In addition promotes personal confidence, and helps employers hire, verify and reward relevant expertise.

Corina Sadler, Volunteer Resrouces Coordinator from the City of Plano, TX, shares her thoughts on the certification and process:
“I completed my CVA two years ago, and found it instrumental in providing me additional  knowledge and understanding of the profession I have chosen.  The textbook "Volunteer Administration Professional Practice"  explained the 6 core competencies of volunteer management, which was especially beneficial when discussing ethics and ethical decision making, since I hadn't received formal training related to those two areas.  This credential cements my commitment to volunteer management, OUR profession, and shows my employers I took my career to the next level. Being able to network with the CVA participants during the process and especially during the written portfolio piece, was very helpful since it required a lot of thought and personal discovery.”
